Isca retain Olive Drake Memorial Trophy
Posted by Jenny Mitchell on 6 September 2015
Isca retained the Olive Drake Memorial trophy with a 100% win record at our annual Tournament. Isca beat Teign 3-0, Plymouth Marjon 1-0 and Tauinton Vale 1-0 meaning that they needed just a draw in the last match of the day against Exe to retain their trophy. Exe had started the day with a 1-0 victory over Plymouth Marjon and followed that with a 0-0 draw against Taunton Vale. A solitary Laura Allen goal against Teign set up the final match with Exe needing a win to snatch the trophy. Despite a Kate Garman penalty stroke save after Isca had taken the lead, Exe were unable to score the goals needed to win.
The day was part of the England Hockey HockeyFest celebration. Many thanks to the Club Members who donated a fine selection of home made cakes to our refreshment table and to Jill Dupain and Emma Hulme for serving teas and coffees with the cake throughout the afternoon. A nice little fund-raiser to start the season off.
A big thank you to our Club umpires - Dave Barnard, Teresa Berridge, Bridget Culver and Karen Tinley for umpiring throughout the day along with Teign's Michelle Judge and Isca's Jack Childs and to the club members who came along to support our team.
