Match Report | Exe 5s welcomed high flying Dawlish as the visitors to St Peters School. Dawlish were quickest out of the box and piled pressure on the Exe defence from the off. Exe were up to the challenge and weathered the storm well while still being kept out of possession. Exe were just starting to open up when Dawlish opened the scoring with a well worked long corner, and doubled their lead through a penalty corner shortly after. Half time: 0-2 The second half began more evenly, but Dawlish had the advantage of faster legs, and made it tell with further scores taking their lead to 5. Exe were not disheartened however, and played hard right to the end. They were rewarded with an excellent counter attacking goal to finish the game; put away by Naomi Oxborough out of position as a forward having given up her sweeping duties due to a sore back. She was perfectly placed to tap home the final goal of the game. Full time: 1-5
Player of the match: Maya Fielding took the honours, but players from all over the pitch worked hard to produce a really good team performance. |
