Match Report | Exe 5ths hosted Torbay 2nd team at St Peter's in glorious sunshine on a day which had the feel of a summer league afternoon. Torbay started strongly, holding the majority of possession and pressing hard. They were rewarded with a short corner 10minutes in, and a nice strike from the top of the D found the back board to give Torbay the early advantage. Exe heads remained high, and with some hard work and nice passing, they began to make inroads into the Torbay defence. With a move starting from the home defensive half, the ball was switched from the right through an open centre, the pass finding Rachel Morris who took it into the offensive 25. A quick one-two in the D and Rachel pushed the ball past the keeper to level the scores. Half time: 1-1 The second half found Torbay again in the ascendency, as the set up camp in Exe's half of the pitch. When Exe did find themselves in possession, the looked the more likely to skip up the pitch and snatch a goal - a couple of shots fired just wide. Torbay maintained their game though, and with Exe tiring another short corner saw Torbay take the lead again. Torbay sealed it with 10minutes to go with their first goal from open play; the ball crossing from right to left at the goal line and finding a forward to top in from the post. Full time: 1-3
