Exe 2s vs Yeovil and Sherborne
The first game of the season and Exe players were ready and raring to start as they meant to go on. Exe took the first push back and were immediately put under pressure, with a high press and some physical play, both on and off the ball. Y&S continued to work through the middle, playing in triangles and it wasn’t long before they scored their first goal. Exe fought back and took their chances on the break, winning a much deserved penalty flick. Clare Whitworth stepped up and put it away to equal to score. Y&S scored another with some quick passing and impressive finishing. However, some hard work in defence and midfield allowed the forwards to take their chances, Alice Bradley scoring 2 excellent goals on the break to leave Exe 3-2 up at half time. However, Y&S 5 subs to Exe’s 1, left the home side tiring in the second half, allowing the visitors to score a further 2 goals. A hard fought game with some excellent passages of play to take forward to the next match!
