Ladies 5th XI Vs Sidmouth & Ottery 3rds

Sidmouth and Ottery 3rds visited St Peters under the lights on Wednesday evening for the resheduled Exe 5ths home fixture which was a victim of the recent snowy weather.

The match started at fast pace, with Exe the winner in terms of possesion and territory.  Sidmouth and Ottery kept all eleven players in the defence for much of the half, and worked hard to maintan a clean sheet score with Exe probing in attack.  Their skilled centre midfield did manage to force a counter attack on occasion and she had probably the best chance of the half, which went just wide of the mark from the top of the D.

Exe continued to probe throughout the second half - against the grain of recent results where the opposition has had the better of the second period.  Sidmouth and Ottery continued to defend with all payers at the back and Jane Bailey in the Exe goal was rarely troubled as Exe pushed for the winner.   Sadly shots continued to be forced just wide and the game was played out for a draw.

Exe probably a little unlucky not to come way with a win on this occasion.  Sidmouth and Ottery's julbilation at the final whistle having held on a clear indication of the pressure Exe had maintained.  A thoroughly entertaining match to end the season.
