Ladies 5th XI Vs Sidmouth & Ottery 4ths

Chilly and damp was the order of the day at Sidmouth Community College as Exe 5ths visited Sidmouth and Ottery 4ths.

Exe set up camp in the offensive half for the majority of the first half, although Sidmouth and Ottery did leave one player to hang high around the goal. The play was fast paced with some accurate passing and Exe pressed hard before Harmony Evans stroked home to put visitors one up. Out of the blue Sidmouth & Ottery broke one out of the defence and caught Exe on the hop; bringing the scores level again. Heads still high Exe continued to press their skill advantage and deservedly went into half time 2-1 up thanks to Soraya Meftah latching onto the end of a nice cross. 

Half time: 1-2 

Sidmouth & Ottery looked like a different team in the second half. The play was much more even, but Exe seemed to have lost some of the desire to chase back. The curse of the final 10 minutes was again Exe's downfall as one goal at either end of the period settled the final score, although Exe were unlucky to find they had put the ball in the goal after a messy period only to hear the whistle blown for a short corner as it crossed the line.

Player of the match: A real spread of votes, but two each for Brianne  White and Esme Kilburn-Thompson came out on top.
