Ladies 5th XI Vs Torbay 2nds

Exe turned up to play Torbay on what was a slightly chilly and damp morning.

Being a couple of places clear of Exe in the league, we knew we had to pull out all the stops for a positive result. The first half started strongly with an early short corner for Exe. Jojo Bannister received the ball at the top of the D, and sent it to the backboard on the reverse, a valuable 1-0 up in the first 5 minutes. Exe then scored again by working the ball well up the pitch and into the D for Carlie Karacusevic to find the goal with a well timed deflection. Exe were solid in defence and held off the Torbay attack leaving the half time score 2-0 to Exe.

The second half saw Torbay come out more organised and as a result they created more opportunities for themselves. Although the Exe defence was as strong as ever, Torbay did get the better of them to make to score. Exe found an answer though and another well worked attack saw some great one touch work into the D for Carlie Karacusevic to fire the ball into the top of the net. Torbay managed to get one more through Exe but today wasn't their day and they were constantly playing catch up with an Exe team that was on fire!

The spread of votes for Man of the Match show just what a wonderful team effort this win was. 5 people share the honours, Esme Kilburn Thomson, Rachel Morris, Ella Evernden, Carlie Karacusevic and Jojo Bannister with the remaining votes spread evenly amongst other players. Well done ladies, a cracking win that we thoroughly deserved!
