Ladies 2nd XI Vs Newquay

The last game before the half term break, Exe were up for a tough game against Newquay. Newquay came out strong and scored the first goal. Exe knew we were going to be in for a high intense game. Some good passage of play between Josie Hassall, Alice Bradley and Emma Dupain saw Exe awarded a short corner. Kate Wright was able to covert to take it to 1-1. Some more solid defence from Caitlin Searle and Leoni Hilton saw the ball passed up the pitch to Charlie Cooper who won and scored the short corner. Another short corner followed for Exe and a controversial but fair strike gave Clare Whitworth her first goal of the season.

Half time seemed to fire up the Cornish side who quickly put a second goal in to make the score 3-2. Exe got back on top and took the game back into their own hands with another goal to make it 4-2; Emma White slotting it in from close range. Despite a period of to-ing and fro-ing, Exe scored an excellent team goal from a quickly-taken defensive hit. Hannah Owen made a crucial pass all the way up the pitch and Cooper got the final touch to make it 5-2. A fantastic win!
