Match Report |
Exe started the day tying on points with Cheltenham so were determined to get a solid win under their belt. Exe got off to a good start with an opener from Becky Fagg which was soon followed by a goal from Emily Mitchem. Exe kept possession of the ball and put the travelling Yate side under a lot of pressure. After a short spell of attacks from Yate, Hope Kent made some good saves for her debut for the 1st XI. Lorel Wallis then responded with two goals, with one just before half time which was deflected nicely into the net from a hard hit into the D from midfielder Ellie Colton. Yate started the second half well but Exe continued to apply the pressure, not giving them long on the ball. The goals kept coming with a strike from Irish Julie and some converted short corner routines from Sarah Payne, Bess Menheneot and Kelly Luscombe. An 8-0 win now sees Exe pull away from Cheltenham’s goal difference as well as now being two points ahead after their draw to Lydney.Â
