| Match Report | Exe hosted joint-second place Cheltenham this weekend and the tough fixture ended at 3 goals apiece after 70 minutes. The first half was fulll of fast-paced end-to-end hockey with both teams creating plenty of chances to score. Bess Menheneott opened the scoring, connecting with a good ball into the circle from Helen Bray. Cheltenham responded to score from a fast break but a goalmouth scramble saw Emily Townsend capitalise for the home team taking the score to 2-1 to Exe at half time. The second half saw Cheltenham start fast and they scored twice within the first ten minutes to lead the game 3-2. Finally, and with less than a minute remaining, a long period of pressure from Exe was rewarded with a goal from Emma Ross to draw the game 3-3. Exe take on Taunton next weekend to continue their fight for promotion. |
