The 2s travelled down to the depths of Cornwall this weekend to play a strong, well-drilled Newquay side. Exe had first push-back with the aim of scoring in the first 5 minutes, which was almost achieved - a fantastic goal from Karen Tinley at 7 minutes from a short corner gave Exe the lead. Newquay pressed hard but some excellent goalkeeping from Hope (man of the match) and some great defending meant the score was 1-0 at half time. Second half started positively with some good breaks from the midfield created a few chances, but Newquay continued to press high. Newquay had 17 short corners and Exe did well to keep the ball out of the goal. However, in the last minute of the game Newquay got a deflection to the top right corner leaving the score 1-1. Exe fought hard all the way through and did well to hold the draw.
