Ladies 5th XI Vs Sidmouth & Ottery 3s

Exe 5ths travelled to Sidmouth for the return tie against Sidmouth and Ottery 3rds.

Sidmouth started the stronger side with the majority of the possession and a seemingly stronger desire to get to the ball first. Some good marking was a feature of the Exe defence, however, and Amelia in goal was not really tested. The only short corner of the half was awarded to Sidmouth but they exceeded their time allowed for discussion and the decision was turned over.

Exe started the second half with more determination, and the sides looked an even match with some end to end hockey.  Exe failed to make a handful of corners count and, looking tired, appeared at risk of going a goal down as Sidmouth were awarded a succession of corners of their own. A scramble of sticks just kept the ball trickling over the goal line.  The scare was enough to bring Exe back to full concentration, and the forwards put training into practice as Emma's ball from top D found Lynette lurking right of the penalty spot to fire home.

Exe worked hard for this result  and fully deserved the three points.
