Match Report | Exe 3s again started slowly, conceding a goal in the opening minutes of the game. However, this was the catalyst they needed; soon after, Exe began to dominate play with triangles of passes around the opposition. Laura Newcombe opened the scoring, chipping the ball over Sidmouth and Ottery's floundering goalkeeper, yet with only 11 players we were noble to convert any chances before half time. A constructive half time talk from coach Simon McCollum encouraged Exe to attack more rather than being reactive. Bryony Vandenburg set the pace for the second half, slipping the ball home; Anya Kilburn-Thompson was then rewarded for her solo efforts with Exe's third goal. Finally Evie Jones smashed the ball into the goal to seal another convincing Exe 3s win. After a superb team effort, Gael Little and Evie Jones were players of the match. Thanks go to Laura Newcombe for "coming out of retirement" to give us a full team. Exe sit comfortably at the top of the league. Written by Megan Langley. |
