Match Report | Exe started well with Anya Kilburn-Thompson finishing a pass from Megan Langley to make it 1-0 within the first few minutes. Shortly after Roxy Lewis brilliantly deflected a pass into the D to chip the ball over the goalies pads. 2-0. Using the 'club' short corner routines we chose one - can't give away the secrets! - AKA straight strike though!! The ball came out to Lucy Brook, a little wide, which meant she was able to stop herself, take it in and strike from the top of the D - boom 3-0. The 4th goal was from Evie Jones where she rescued the ball from the back line, turned and struck at a narrow angle into the back of the net. 4-0 at half time. We had to remain focused for the second half. It wasn't too long after the restart that Evie took the ball down the left wing into the D to place the ball skillfully past the defense and goal keeper. 5-0. Torbay were not giving up and their defenders continued to hinder further attacks. We did get one more short corner, a different option was selected. It did not quite go to 'the plan', the ball went to the top of the D, this time it was slipped left and Emma Hulme had time to strike the ball, a deflection off a Torbay stick aided the 6th goal. It was on target though so Emma is claiming this one! Final score 6-0. Great to be scoring goals as well as not conceding. Thanks to Bridget Culver for stepping in as Goal Keeper this week, glad it was a quiet one for you! MOM with 9 votes went, deservedly so, to Evie Jones, cracking performance, well done. |
