Exe travelled the long journey to Oxford hoping to take three points from the game and they certainly started in an aggressive fashion. Exe dominated the first 20 minutes with their quick attacking play and should've have scored. However Oxford slowly got back into the game and it became end to end stuff. On 28 minutes Exe earned a short corner. This was hit by Anna-mae and Helen Tully managed to get a stick onto the ball to divert it in for a well deserved lead.
A couple of minutes later some questionable umpiring decisions meant Exe were down to 9 players and faced a short corner. This was well executed by Oxford to bring them level. Then just a couple of minutes later Oxford made the extra numbers count when they scored a scrappy open play goal. Exe went into the half time feeling hard done by however came out in the second half with determination.
The second half contained chances for both teams however the score stayed as it was and Exe finished the game 2-1 down.
Next week Exe host Stourport looking to get their season back on track.
