Exe faced a very experienced Olton team, with a number of England and GB caps amongst them. Olton got off to a quick start, scoring in the 4th minute working the ball around the circle to find a free player at the far post to slot home. Exe then had a good period of possession, but it was Olton who scored the next goal to go 2-0 in front. Both teams had chances to score in the remainder of the half, with man of the match Kate Garman making a string of good saves, keeping the score 2-0 at half time. Exe dominated the possession in the second half and had a number of goals denied by goal line clearances and some fine saves. Against the run of play Olton broke and were awarded a penalty stroke to make the score 3-0. Exe continued to press and were unlucky not rewarded for a very positive performance.
