Match Report

Exe Ladies 1st team travelled to Bath on Saturday for the final match of their season. Having secured the league title last weekend, Exe were seeking to finish their league campaign in style. Bath, however, were keen to show that they could take three points from the newly-crowned champions. The game started at the fast pace Exe have come to expect when playing Bath, with both teams creating chances for early goals. It was Bath who broke the deadlock first with a well-taken goal to take the lead. Exe responded with a good finish by Fi Moran from a short corner breakdown. Bath were quick to respond however and Exe had to accept being 2-1 down at half time. A positive half time talk from captain Kelly Barrett inspired Exe to take control of the game in the second half and they dominated possession and created numerous chances that challenged the Bath defence. Two short corners and two brilliant strikes from Helen Tully swung the game in Exe’s favour and they held on to take the three points. Exe have ended a hugely successful season nine points clear at the top of West Premier League 1 and can finally take a summer break before the challenge of National League next season.
