Match Report |
Today was always going to be a challenge, as we were facing Tavistock who were 2nd in the league. Although there were also several other challenges that we needed to face; firstly, getting 11 players for the match as it was during half term and secondly getting to the pitch! Fortunately, we managed both of these with only a slight detour on the way! The first half of the match went downhill quickly when we let in two goals early on. However, we soon realised that with no face masks short corners were very tense, with Emma Hulme saving a goal at head high and almost taking the umpire's head off. After this we applied pressure on Tavistock and got the chance of many short corners although we were unable to score a goal. Unfortunately, Tavistock managed to get another goal meaning we finished the first half three goals down. Going into the second half we started off strong and with some brilliant play between Heather Edworthy, Jess King and Lucy Brook; Lucy was able to score us a goal. After this the game was very even between the two teams, however, Tavistock were able to score one more goal meaning the final score was 4-1. The player of the match was unanimously voted as Rebekah Goodwill
