Match Report | Exe 2s went into this weeks fixture against 3rd placed Caradon looking for a win. Managing to scrape 12 players for the first time in a few matches, Exe started well, pressuring the opposition; Heather Edworthy forced a goal from a well earned short corner. With some strong passing around the back from Bridget Culver, Sian Williams, Becky Goodwill and Laura Newcombe, and some excellent saves from goalkeeper Becca Rushworth, Exe maintained the lead into half time despite increased pressure from Caradon. Man of the Match Lucy Brook and Karen Tinley held the centre of the pitch superbly, distributing and tackling with precision. However, Caradon's perseverance was rewarded with a goal that snuck past the far post. The rest of the game saw both teams fighting for possession, with some strong open play dominating both ends of the pitch. Exe's attacking line up of Emma Hulme, Ali Kerridge, Heather Edworthy, Anya Kilburn-Thomson and Megan Langley were unlucky not to convert some chances in front of goal to clinch the winner. Final score, a fair 1-1. |
