Match Report That was the week that was...   One umpire down, on the case.  One pitch down, tuesday training cancelled, Wednesday training cancelled. Pitch evaluated on friday, not deemed playable for Saturday fixtures. Poor jenny was running around all week, Emma White confirms we can use Lympstone Marine Base. Umpire still not sorted. Jenny steps in last minute on her week off. Diamond. Sorted...All go for Saturday.   Now on to the match. On a glorious autumnal day, clear, fresh, dry, sun shining - oh no not quite! Cold, wet, dreary, miserable a solid 11 turned up to play hockey. Torbay suggested we settle the game with Simons subbuteo set, this was very appealing! Alas no, we ought to actually play I suppose.    Torbay started well putting us under unnecessary pressure. We stayed firm and defended well. Then it was our turn to put the pressure on. Slowly, patiently we built up our attack and had 3 or 4 chances go by the way side. Including a disallowed goal from Emma Hulme. 100% certain it had gone over the line but unfortunately not seen by the umpire. Keep strong, it'll come, and it did a battle from a short corner saw Lucy Brook convert. Excellent. Unfortunately Torbay then stepped up and converted in open play. 1-1 at half time. Second half was pretty much a replay of the first half. Both teams, with no subs, were tired. There were some excellent passages of play from Laura Newcombe, Megan Langley and Hope Evans. Which saw us playing some really lovely hockey. Karen Tinley controlled the middle distributing the ball well to the left wing, where there seemed to be more space. Heather Edworthy held the ball up nicely to pass to Lucy, then between Megan and Hope to get the ball into the D for Karen Tinley to expertly place into the goal. 2-1 excellent, no less than we deserved.  Shame of it was that we then allowed Torbay possession to take the ball all the way into the D and convert a close range shot. We were awarded a short corner in the closing minute but we're unfortunately unable to capitalise. Final score 2-2. Man of match was Hope Evans.
