Match Report

After an in depth team talk Exe 2s were ready to go. A second time out for the new formation meant we were all a little more familiar with how it should work this week. We started OK but still seemed a little hesitant. With some encouragement from coach Simon McCollum yelling to get 10 men behind the ball soon made us pick our socks up. We were awarded a penalty corner which, luckily as it turned out, went a little off target, meant that Karen Tinley passed the ball to Emma Hulme for a classic 1-2 manoeuvre for Karen to deftly slot the ball past the goal keeper and into the net. 1-0, fantastic start. Tavistock soon capitalised from a break down in our attack to take the ball all the way to our defending "d" and score the equaliser. It was our fault, we were being lazy. We soon gave ourselves the kick we needed to regain control and soon were awarded another penalty corner. It's as if we had been practicing (!), but again a beautiful 1-2 between Karen and Emma culminated in the second goal! 2-1 at half time. There were positive comments from Simon during the team talk but we also knew where we needed to improve. "It is ours to lose". The second half saw us patiently maintain possession but we were fairly evenly matched, with Laura Beal making some amazing saves to keep us in the game. Finally we sealed the result with a cracking turn and strike from Ruby Jarman to make it 3-1. Exe 2s are looking good, let's keep the momentum going. It's nice to win! Man of the match goes to goalkeeper Laura Beal.

We would like to say thank you to Simon for his support and advice.  Also thank you to all the 1st team who came to support. It truly makes a difference to have you all there.
