With a new coach, new players and a newly promoted team to play, Exe travelled up to Bristol ready for their first match of the season against Westberries.
Exe started well, putting excellent pressure on the home side and passing the ball well but few shots on goal meant the keeper wasn't tested much until a flurry of short corners partway through the first half. A solid defence defeated the Exe attack again and despite the visiting side stepping up the pressure once more, their breakthrough didn't come until late on in the second half. More pressure and more short corners culminated in a close shot from Bridie Marlow slotting it through the keeper and into the goal. A relieved Exe gained a precious 1-0 win to start the season, ready to continue their league campaign!
