Exe IIs narrowly failed to gain reward after an excellent game that epitomised their season. High flyers Plymouth University took the lead after 9mins, but from then on Exe matched them in all departments. A period of sustained pressure led to the equaliser when Karen Tinley’s short corner strike was deflected in at the far post by Bridget Culver. Heather Edworthy saw a chance go inches wide, whilst player of the match Fi Moran saw her best opportunity saved by the ‘keeper. The University’s winner came 10mins from time and despite throwing everything forward Exe could not find the leveller.
