Exe started the stronger of the two teams, putting pressure on the opposition and creating many chances, before Kat Harris converted a penalty corner, firing straight into the goal.
Exe continue to create chances and unfortunately missed a penalty stroke mid-way through the first half. Goalkeeper Suzy Eagles made a smart save just before half time to ensure Exe went in at half time in the lead.
Clifton came out strong in the second half putting Exe under pressure and were rewarded when they scored from a penalty corner to make the score 1-1. This spurred on Exe who took the game to Clifton creating a number of chances, before Clare Whitworth finished off a scramble in the goal mouth to make it 2-1. Exe then saw out the last 5 minutes to take a well-deserved 1-2 win.
