Exe Ladies 1st had to settle with a 1-1 draw at home against a defiant Sailsbury 1st X1. An enemy to themselves the first half was scattered with slow passes and an inconsistent start from the Exe 1st X1. However, as the team settled in Exe displayed moments of brilliance with a near miss goal from Laura Jones and intricate passing between the midfield and forward line. Exe's improving momentum was rewarded by a well worked trio of passes that eventually powered the ball into the D for a skilled deflection and goal for Becky Flagg (the whippet). The second half began with a faster pace of play and a near miss when Laura Allan played a superb deflection that skimmed over the goal cross bar to the cheers of the crowd. Sailsbury never took their foot off the gas and continued to penetrate our midfield with speed and skill but Exe stood strong until a tag team of foot fouls lead to a shot corner and goal by the Sailsbury team in the last 10 minutes of play.
