The firsts started strong having made the journey to Yate. From the first whistle Exe showed good pressure on the ball, narrowly missing a few shots. The first goal came from a flick from captain Kelly Barrett. Exe went into the second half leading 1-0 and Yate came out quickly putting Exe on the back foot, however Exe held the pressure well and came back with a deflected goal from Helen Tully at the edge of the D. After some well linked passes starting at the back and moving forward, Whitworth managed to put one down the side of the goalkeeper and bring the score to 3-0. The Exe defence was solid meaning Eagles only touched the ball once during the game and the fourth goal came soon after from Whitworth again. It was a good team effort today despite the difficult circumstances, resulting in a three way tie for man of the match: Sarah Payne, Helen Tully and Clare Whitworth.
