The game started off at a high tempo with Exe putting pressure on from the start. After 10 minutes of consistent possession Exe converted with a strike from the top of the D from Helen Tully. Firebrands made a few good breaks which were well contained by the Exe defence. The second goal came 15 minutes later, with a deflection from Clare Whitworth, making the score 2-0 at half time.
Exe came out very strong in the second half scoring within 20 seconds of the whistle being blown. With great play from the middle from Captain Kelly Barrett, passing the ball onto Bridie Marlow up the line who drove the ball solidly to the baseline and effortlessly slipped the ball to the penalty spot where Laura Allen drove it home. A great team effort, Ali Razza would have shed a tear at the sight.
The fourth goal came in much the same form, the Becky Fagg passing it down the line to Bridie who then crossed it to Whitty, who sent it into back of the goal. The icing on the cake was a loose ball in the D which was slammed away by Kelly Barrett to give a fantastic 5-0 win.
