Match Report | Back to their winning ways Exe faced Plymouth Marjons at home on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon. Exe opened up the scoring with Helen Tully using her individual skills to pass the Marjon's defence before slipping the ball to Bridie Marlow who was well placed on the penalty spot to slot the ball home. Exe struggled to settle into a rhythm and Marjons had some good attacks, which resulted in winning a short corner that they converted to put the score level. Before half time Exe won a short corner and captain Kelly Barrett powered the ball across the D and player of the match Nicole Thackeray deflected it into the goal. The second half saw Exe a lot more settled. The defence remained solid with some good tackles from Helen Bray and Emma White in the middle with midfield players Becky Fagg and Kat Harris using their speed up the line to get the ball in the oppositions D. The third goal came from another Tully/Marlow partnership with Tully crossing the ball and Marlow putting it into the back of the net. To secure a 4-1 win Tully fired the ball home from the top of the D and despite Marjon's keeper getting a foot to it the ball found the backboard. A good team performance from Exe gives them another valuable 3 points.
