Match Report | Exe made the long away trip to Bournemouth this weekend. They got off to a great start with Laura Allen slotting home a goal early in the game. This was followed by another soon after from a short corner shot from Helen Tully which was deflected in by Allen again. Exe maintained the pressure in the first half to score another goal in open play which was scored by Bridie Marlow and they had another shot hit the post just before half time. Bournemouth came back strong in the second half which caught Exe on the back foot. Suzie Eagles in goal made some fantastic saves but could not stop Bournemouth as they went on to convert two goals in open play with some skilful deflections. At 3-2, Exe stepped up the pressure again and had lots of opportunities but could not convert. Eventually Helen Tully went on a run from mid field and made her way into the D slotting home a fourth goal. Laura Allen was awarded man of the match. Exe still remain second in the league table 3 points below Bristol University but with a game in hand. |
